#s 43 and 44

In the immediate aftermath of the Marathon bombings, I circulated an awesome Buzzfeed post called '29 Things to Love about Boston'. In the subsequent e-mail thread, we amassed a few more:

#30: The dedication etched into the Copley Library (Boston's primary public library and the geographic centre of the city): The Public Library of the City of Boston built by the people and dedicated to the advancement of learning. The Commonwealth requires the education of the people as the safeguard of order and liberty. Free to all. MDCCCLXXXVII
#31: Duck Tours
#32: The Christian Science Church Building
#33: Being able to make the word "four" have more than one syllable
#34: USS Constitution
#35: Fluff Festival and Roller Girls
#36: John Hancock Tower
#37: The Seafood
#38: Bloody Marys made with Bacon
#39: Good beers
#40: Simon! (Oh, and the rest of his family too)

#41: The ducks in Boston Common
#42: Make Way for Ducklings

And now, thanks to a couple of recent submissions, I can add the following:

#43: The Hungover Owls tumblr, which was started by a local free-press editor and is awesomely delightful. (Thanks, Paul!)
#44: This spectacular fuck-off to the right-wing 'truthers' who allege that the FBI were behind the bombings. The video is filmed on the corner of Cambridge and Norfolk Streets (i.e., down the road from me) on the day of the lockdown; you'll recall that Norfolk Street is where the bombers lived. If you've ever wondered why I felt so at home with the legendary Australian  potty-mouth, well, a) you've clearly never met my father, and b) this should answer those questions. (Thanks, Anthony!)

XOXO
